Helen Hooper’s fiction has appeared in American Short Fiction, The Common, The Hopkins Review, Bellevue Literary Review, New South and elsewhere. She is a recent Stegner Fellow and has been awarded residencies at MacDowell Colony, Ucross, Ragdale Foundation and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She has been a Peter Taylor fellow at the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop and a finalist for prizes from Glimmer Train, New Millennium and Fish Publishing. Before turning to fiction writing she worked for twenty-five years as an environmental policy analyst and lobbyist. She is now working on a novel set in northern Alabama. She lives in Arlington, Virginia.
